Meridian 808V6 CD Player / Roon End Point
Last of the Meridian CD Player Unicorns!
From what we can tell we have the last of the 808V6 Unicorns here at GC HiFi in our demo line up. Yes I'm talking about our 808V6 that I picked up this 808V6 from the Australian Distributor to use in our demo list over a year ago. Much to my surprise when I opened the box up the 808 was still wrapped in the original factory wrapping and it had not been unwrapped, the sticky tape seal was unbroken. This particular 808 which used to retail for over $20,000 when available here in Australia had lived for years up high on a rack in the warehouse and had basically been forgotten about. So if you are interested in one of the best CD Players that is still rated in the top five ever made at any price and it also doubles as a Roon player and this one given it was only unwrapped not that long ago by me is in excellent condition both visually and operationally. 808V6 Introduction
With the 808V6 Meridian delivered its final generation of the 808, a proud member of the 800 Reference Series, specifically developed to render the “very best sound” from compact disc and network audio. In addition, the 808v6 decodes Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) sources.
Part of the Reference 800 Series, the 808v6 is the “highest performance” CD player ever manufactured by Meridian. The latest edition offers several significant improvements including the decoding and rendering of MQA sources to deliver studio quality reproduction – guaranteed – via both digital and analogue outputs. At the heart of Meridian’s ultimate music system, the 808v6 offers CD playback from an internal CD-ROM based drive which allows for data recovery and error correction, as well as external analogue and digital sources.
